Tag-A-Long Essential requirements

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND A TAG-A-LONG TOUR YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING

  • enough camping gear to be self sufficient

  • camping set up should be easy to put up and take down (max 15 mins set up)

  • vehicles require raised suspension of at least 40mm

  • vehicles need rated recovery points front and rear

  • vehicles require raised air intakes / snokel

  • good off-road All Terrain tyres

  • full recovery kit including but not limited to 4.75T rated shackles, snatch strap or snatch rope, cable damper, equalisation strap and gloves

  • if your vehicle is fitted with a winch you will also need a tree trunk protector, 2 x 4.75T rated shackles, 2x cable dampers

  • tyre Pressure Gauge

  • good quality tyre pump / compressor

  • shovel (preferably long handled)

  • UHF radio with 6.6dbi aerial with quality mounting bracket

  • fire extinguisher (1kg)

  • basic first aid kit

  • basic vehicle specific spares (air, oil and fuel filters, fan belts, wheel studs

  • 20l per person water storage

  • deep water crossings and rock steps are part of the trip

  • trips are rated moderate to difficult (diamond and double diamond especially if wet)

  • all drivers should have some basic 4wd experience before joining the trip

  • all drivers need to be licensed and vehicles need to be registered and in a roadworthy condition

  • comprehensive vehicle insurance is required with a company that covers you off road like Club 4x4 who will pay for your vehicle recovery in remote areas.

  • vehicle damage may occur, but is unlikely if you follow the guides directions
